Cancellation of the Regents Examination in US History and Government - June 1, 2022 Now a Full Instructional Day

The Board of Regents has cancelled this June’s administration of the new US History & Government Regents exam, originally scheduled for June 1, 2022. In the wake of the recent tragedy in Buffalo, the Board of Regents determined that the content of the existing exam had the potential to compound student trauma, and has erred on the side of caution to cancel this examination.

Given this cancellation, and NYSED’s practice of introducing new Regents exams in June, the US History & Government administration will not be offered in August 2022 or January 2023 either. In response to this, further guidance will be shared regarding the approval of a graduation exemption for students scheduled to sit for this exam.

In light of the Regents exam being cancelled by NYSED, June 1, 2022 will be considered a full instructional day, and attendance must be taken per typical requirements.
