Admissions

Established in 1982, Manhattan Center for Science and Math is a four-year high school that provides students with a curriculum which emphasizes science and mathematics. As a screened school, admission is by application; however, Manhattan Center is not one of the nine specialized science high schools that require an entrance exam.  However, students are academically screened, ranked and matched by the NYC Department of Education Office of Enrollment. Using the links below the academic screening criteria being used for MCSM may be found.

The curriculum includes advanced placement (AP) courses, special programs, advanced science research and internship opportunities. There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities, student clubs and a full array of sports.

Manhattan Center partners with institutions of higher education, such as New York University, Columbia University, Cornell and CUNY to offer courses in science, mathematics and humanities. Through these partnerships and Mount Sinai Hospital, General Electric, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, American Globe Theatre, and Manhattan Theatre Club there are a wide range of opportunities for one-on-one mentoring, internship experiences, academic enrichment and summer programs. Our daily after-school program provides extensive academic and arts enrichment. We also provide support services, in addition to a variety of sports, clubs and leadership activities for our students.
