On Saturday, November 22, 2025, 12 members of MCSM's Model UN Club participated in Columbia University's CESIMS Model UN Conference. It was a very long day, but our delegates worked diligently to work toward resolutions to their committee's issues and problems. Topics ranged from chemical and biological warfare to the 2008 Financial Crisis to the Cuban Revolution. For many of our delegates, this was their first conference, and they all jumped in and had a fun, meaningful experience. Looking forward to our next conference at Art & Design High School on January 10, 2026!

Ms. Drmacich’s NYC History class visited the Lévy Gorvy Dayan Art Gallery to see the Downtown/Uptown: New York in the Eighties exhibit. “The works in Downtown/Uptown: New York in the Eighties represent the diverse and groundbreaking art created during, and in response to, this epochal time—while also highlighting the community shared by the featured artists.” Some of the artists in the exhibit include - Jean-Michel Basquiat, Francesco Clemente, Guerrilla Girls, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Barbara Kruger, Robert Mapplethorpe, Richard Prince, and Andy Warhol. https://www.levygorvydayan.com/
Prior to the visit students researched one of the NYC artists featured in the exhibit and shared with their classmates what they learnt about their assigned artist and their artist's impact on the art world and NYC.

On November 7, 2025, we welcomed students from Prague, Czech Republic, for a day of connection and learning. They gave a lively presentation about the Czech Republic, Prague, notable mathematicians and scientists, the Czech education system, their school, and the many things our countries have in common. Our NHS members hosted the visit, meeting the guests, guiding them to classes, and leading a campus tour. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day welcoming, informative, and fun, especially AP Salek, who arranged the visit.

Today, MCSM students took to Jefferson Park to give back to their neighborhood as part of their journey toward earning the Seal of Civic Readiness. In partnership with Partnership for Parks, our students rolled up their sleeves, picked up their tools, and made a real impact by proving that civic engagement starts right here in our own backyard!

“Community in action! Today, Mrs. Drmacich's students teamed up with Partnership for Parks for a day of service, raking leaves and beautifying our local green spaces. This hands-on work not only gives back to our neighborhood but also helps students earn hours toward the Seal of Civic Readiness—a prestigious new accolade on their high school diploma that recognizes their commitment to civic engagement. Proud to see our students making a real impact! #CivicReadiness #CommunityService #PartnershipForParks #FutureLeaders”
